Clinical Profile of Patients with Cirrhosis of Liver having Refractory Ascites, in a Tertiary Care Centre of Western India

Background and Aim: Ascites occurs at the rate of 7-10% annually in cirrhotic patients. Within 10 years diagnosis cirrhosis, 70% patients will develop ascites. First-line therapy for with ascites is sodium restriction diuretics. Eventually, up to 11.4% refractory (RA), defined as that cannot be mobilized or early recurrence which (i.e., after paracentesis) satisfactorily. prevented by diuretic therapy. This a cross-sectional observational. study, aims observe cirrhosis liver, presenting developing refractory. ascites, their ongoing medications, complications course disease. Methods: A data 169 consecutive admitted Bombay Hospital Medical Research Centre, ranging age from 18 85 years, collected over time period 01.10.2019 30.09.2021.
